When I got divorced in 2003, my lawyer acted like I was a complete idiot and he was God.
He, like most lawyers was way more interested in arranging for and securing his outrageous fee than helping his client. I noticed that the retainer agreement included a clause that seemed to suggest that any fee dispute was subjet to arbitration and I was waiving my right to file a dispute with the North Carolina Bar.
