Medical Malpractice Lawyers exist so that the unsuspecting hospital patients have somewhere to turn when the care they receive is substandard. Well that’s what they would say…
In reality, they really exist because the insurance industry and court systems allow them to fleece their clients with their blessings.
Sure, doctors and nurses do fail patients everyday. All you have to do is ask friends and family how many times a doctor forgot to check your current meds before subscribing another. Or, while in the hospital the pharmacy screws up and gives you the wrong dosage.
Look what happened recently to actor Dennis Quaid’s newborns. In that incident, the hospital gave the children a dosage of heparin that nearly killed them. Now if they were my children you would say, I’d sue the bastards too but the point is to correct the problem (ambiguous packaging) and compensate the Quaid’s.
In today’s society, everyone now “lawyer’s up” and prepares for war. The hospital knows that some malpractice lawyer is going to drag them through depositions and discovery, and the plaintiff’s know that the hospital is going to stonewall any attempt to get information and there you go.
So, only the lawyers come out on top.
